A Brief History of the Supramental Yoga & Descent, continued:
1976 & “The Great Reversal” of 1983-84
“Supermind creates its own conditions: to manifest, or to become established on Earth, it will open its own path, control the descent of the Knowledge via that path, and disclose a new language which can render the Manifestation appreciable by all. In the process, it reveals aspects of creation that cannot be grasped without the aid of this new principle.” – Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet (Thea), Chronicles of the Inner Chamber, Update 8

In Part One I discussed some of the symbols of the Covid-19 pandemic that come into view when looking at the unfolding circumstances of our collective evolution as “part of an extremely precise play of forces” in which the positive and the negative both serve towards the same awakening or birth of the Higher Self. In Part Two I presented various quotes and excerpts from the written works of Sri Aurobindo, the Mother and Thea, emphasizing their view of the critical evolutionary step (the evolution of consciousness) that is currently pressing upon our world. This view is part of the foundation that is necessary for those who are interested in coming to appreciate and experience (to “see in understanding”) humanity’s many “crises of destiny” via the higher Supramental Light and unifying Truth of the indwelling Soul. In Parts Three and Four I am presenting another part of this foundation which is a brief-as-possible overview of the history of the Supramental Yoga. In Part Five, I will discuss various elements of Thea’s Supramental Cosmology, including her writing about the 4.5 reversal point of the Gnostic Circle and how this applies to unfolding events of this year, which spans the 4.5 Point of our current ennead (2016-2025).

By early 1976, Thea had reached something of an impasse in her yoga. Her efforts towards exposing the true sacred sense of the Mother’s Temple (the Matrimandir) measurements had not prevented the misconstruction of the temple in Auroville, and she reported having “the acute sense of something missing, a power that perhaps would have made all the difference between defeat and victory, and that was lacking in order to carry the Mother's work forward. I felt that if this Power continued to be withheld I could go no further. The Work seemed to be at a dead-end.” (The Tenth Day of Victory, Vol. 2, p. 314)

Subsequently, on 12 March 1976, Thea had an incite (in italic text below) about the sacred geometry of the globe and pedestal of the Mother’s Temple which brought this “Power” forward.
A chimera of images in
TNW Vols. 1&2 , pp. 238, 241
What if the Globe of 70cm is the basis for a vesica piscis construction ‒ vertical, upright  ‒ and the lower circle holds the Pedestal?
“That was all I needed to know. The revelations of the next nine days, to be exact, carried me into dimensions of the Mother's vision that made of it the greatest achievement in sacred architecture the world has ever known. Moreover, this was truly science but indeed sacred; and it opened before me the path of a new way for the Earth, just as I had been praying for over the past several months. This simple geometric device was all that was required. It was the key to unlock the secrets of the Mother's chamber…
“[The next] 9 days was full of a luminosity never before imagined possible. It had for its purpose an entirely unexpected revelation, as mathematical as all the rest of the knowledge and therefore undeniable. On the very last day the most astonishing 'secret' her vision and plan contained was  revealed. It proved to be the culmination ‒ or rather, the key to the future not only of Sri Aurobindo's mission but the future of planet Earth herself. lt made sense of the prophecies found scattered throughout the world, cross-cultural, cosmic and terrestrial: the birth of the Male Child. This was Sri Aurobindo himself in the form of the Son. This was the fourth missing or hidden power I had intuited was lacking. This was the secret laid bare of the transmutation of Transcendence to Immanence. Or, as he has described this power in Savitri, the 'masked Transcendent mounting his throne'. Such was the immensity of the unveiled 'secret'. It was Sri Aurobindo's own rebirth.…
“[E]very detail of the return was known to me. It was the birth date of my own son.” – Thea, The Tenth Day of Victory, Vol. 2, pp. 317-20, 331
This birth date, as written in The New Way, Vols. 1&2, was 26 November 19631 ‒ the 37th (36 + 1) anniversary of “Immortality Day” (discussed in Part Three), and the 14th Anniversary of India’s adoption of its Constitution (“Constitution Day”).
“[Sri Aurobindo’s] return in the form of Agni incarnate, was the realisation of Immortality, in the full sense he himself attributes to the condition. And, in fact, he took birth on that very Immortality Day, 26 November….” – The New Way, Vols 1&2, pp. 371-72
The fact that the eternal law and sacred geometry of the Vesica Piscis functioned as the key by which Thea came to see Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth contained in the Mother’s Temple, was foreshadowed by an experience or vision her son had of a solar being (a being “from the Sun”) which compelled him to draw two conjoined circles on his mother's wall.
“What was placed on my wall, a clear message given to me, was actually a Vesica Piscis, one circle above the other, just as the child had drawn. It was this simple design that held the secret of who he was and who he came to be in this life. It was the magical geometric figure that subtly enveloped the Core of the Mother's chamber, meticulously designed by her, containing therein all the details of 'the future realisation', and with it all the pertinent details of Sri Aurobindo's rebirth. On 12 March 1976, when I intuited its role in the chamber, the vesica piscis cast a light on her revelation that carried it unmistakably into the solar world, the kingdom of the Sun, the realm of the truth-conscious Supermind. All else done in the sacred sciences up to that point paled into insignificance. For the first time this was a concrete, non-speculative example of the new Power in action ‒ the Power I had sensed was lacking and had so ardently prayed for; and it had all been foreseen and foretold in the dream-experience given to the very one whose 'secret' it contained. The world has never known a similar miracle of revelation. Such is the glory we may anticipate for the new world, the new creation of this Supramental Manifestation. The child had revealed who he was to me, giving me the formidable clue that would unlock the door to Gnosis never before recorded on Earth.” ‒ The Tenth Day of Victory, Vol. 2, pp. 341-42 [Bold emphasis added]
Thea’s visualization/mockup of
the Inner Core of the Matrimandir
as found in TNW, Vols. 1&2
From that revelation forward, Thea saw the symbol of the descending ray of light, the globe it illuminated and the pedestal it descended into, as a symbol of Sri Aurobindo’s full descent or his act of bringing down and embodying the Transcendent Divine through the Cosmic Divine (the body of the Temple) and through the Individual Divine (the luminous globe).
“[W]e ‘see’ the Transcendent compressed before our very eyes when that crystallised Light materialises in the chamber and then passes down and into the Globe, where that sphere of perfect measure transforms the Transcendent into the immanent golden SEED of himself. From vast to minute but ever one, in an unbroken line of time just as Sri Aurobindo experienced. All of this is ‘written’ in the core of the Mother’s chamber; even as it is written in [Savitri]. … In the Rig Veda this is Agni, navel of the world, centre of all created things, the Fire that is both source and upholder because he is the one whose birth fills the void. The first step on the path to Immortality is this ‘birth’. The void must be filled for only that can lead to everlasting life and the end of the reign of Death. – Thea, Chronicles of the Inner Chamber, Part VII – “The Vertical: Sri Aurobindo, the Immanent in the Core”
In other words, Thea saw and recognized that the Mother’s Temple was a monument of Sri Aurobindo’s full avataric descent and victory over death – his re-birth demonstrating his knowledge and embodiment of the “cosmic forces” and eternal laws and geometries of Time and Space.2 Thea rightfully understood that she herself was the vessel3 of this newly descended higher knowledge or Light – equivalent to the symbol of the luminous Globe of the Temple. And she knew her yogic mission was to deliver this newly manifested Gnosis or Light out of the worlds’ darkness or collective Ignorance.

This seeing of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth in sacred architecture of the Mother’s Temple was not simply based on the extraordinary image of the ray of light descending into and becoming the solid pedestal featuring Sri Aurobindo symbol (which the Mother dramatically altered from its original form in May of 1964). It was also based on Thea’s seeing and understanding that the sacred geometry of the 12-pillared Temple corresponded in various ways to the measure of the 12-month Solar Year. Not only did she see that the 15.20 meter height of the Solar Ray was the quotient of dividing the 365-day measure of Solar Year by the 24 meter diameter of the Temple (a symbol of the 24-hour day), is 15.20,4 she also saw that the Solar Ray itself occultly contained the 365 days of the Solar Year. When applying the Vedic law of equivalence whereby one day equals one year, Thea saw that the top of the pedestal corresponds to Sri Aurobindo’s passing in 1950, and the bottom of the pedestal corresponds to his reincarnation in 1963. I constructed the image above to the right, based on images and text found in The New Way, Volume 2, Chapter 3, entitled “The Vesica Piscis”. Four different views of the Mother’s Temple – Transcendent, Cosmic, Individual and Integral – are found The New Way, Vols. 1&2, and in Thea’s Chronicles of the Inner Chamber, discussing the saga of how the Mother’s Temple (containing the Mother’s supramental gnosis and Divine Maya) was distorted in Auroville despite Thea’s intensive efforts to convey the importance of not changing the Mother’s original measurements to all concerned.
“[T]he mystery of the Rebirth is revealed through knowledge of the exact measurement of the globe; with that and Sri Aurobindo's symbol it is possible to arrive at the correct proportions of the pedestal, and only with the proper pedestal measurements can one discover what transpired in his life between 1950 and 1963, the year of his withdrawal and the year of his return to Earth.” – Thea, The New Way, Vol. 2, Ch. 3, p. 232
“Approximately 13 years are contained in the pedestal of 50 cm,5 thus when these are added to 365 the total is 378. With this number the initiate discovers the most sacred measurement of the chamber in that 378 days is the synodic period of Saturn, ‒ or the 'year of Saturn' as viewed from Earth.” – Ibid. p 244
In the same book, Thea presented significant astrological evidence regarding the date of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth, involving the progression of Sri Aurobindo's Lunar Nodes and the Sun’s position at 3° Sagittarius on 26 November 1963, and the interplay between the Lunar Nodes and natal Sun positions of the entire “Solar Line”. (pp. 417-422)

Thea understood and discussed Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth as the victorious birth of Agni – the Divine Child or Hidden Son of the Vedas, establishing the principle of Immortality in material creation, establishing this Vedic victory, in seed form, for the Earth. She referred to this victorious Son as “the Fourth” (the fourth level of the Supramental Descent), who she associated with the fourth planet of our solar system, Mars, and with the numbers 1, 10 and 19, via the sum of the full count of his birth year: 1 + 9 + 6 + 3 = 19, which further reduces via Theosophical addition to 10 (1 + 9 =10), and further to 1 (1 + 0 = 1). It’s worth pointing out here that numerical value of the letters of Sol, indicating the personified Sun in Roman and Norse mythology (and simply meaning “Sun” in Latin) is 19-6-3, if S retains its full numerical value of 19 and the letter O and L are reduced to their respective number powers of 6 and 3.6  The Mother's New Year's message for the special year of 1963 was "1963 Let us prepare for the Hour of God" (in her own handwriting below).

After discovering Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth, Thea wrote The Hidden Manna discussing this victory (the “Father returned as the Son”) in terms of the zodiacal context and symbols of St. John’s Revelation. And she subsequently wrote The New Way, Vols. 1&2, laying out the Vedic gnosis, treasures and sacred sense contained the Mother’s original temple measurements for the Matrimandir, including the treasure of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth. Below are a few emails Thea wrote to her students in 2008-09 regarding this discovery and its impact on her work.
“My cranium felt the usual pressure from above and most unexpectedly I got the 'idea', What if we duplicate the 70cm diameter of the globe with another circle as in a Vesica Piscis?' I was certain the Pedestal dimensions would fit into the bottom circle, and therefore Sri Aurobindo's symbol as well. That was just the beginning. Streams came flooding down, light poured in non-stop, I took pages of notes as fast as I could to keep up with the flow and record whatever I could. This was the birth of the New Way....
“[W]ithout the Act of Unveiling nothing of Sri Aurobindo's secret would have been known. Nothing of Immortality Day, nothing of the everything that this breakthrough has brought. And especially nothing of the present victory....” – Thea, written circa December 2008 [Exact date unknown, bold emphasis added.]
“[W]ithout the Fourth addition to the supramental Formula, I could not have written a word beyond The Gnostic Circle. Nothing of The New Way and beyond would have come down. This, above all else, is the greatness of the Fourth: he simply IS, but by his being Gnosis takes birth on Earth. – Thea, 19 Jan 2009 [From an email to her students, bold emphasis added]
Thea wrote of Sri Aurobindo’s reincarnation as a completion of a certain level of Sri Aurobindo’s work to embody the Divine on Earth, a victory in and of itself. In other words, according to Thea, via his rebirth alone, he fulfilled his role as the victorious Child of the Vedas.
“Shiva's son is known in the tale as the 'youth-conqueror'. As a mere lad he enters the battlefield and vanquishes the powers of darkness, without the usual need of undergoing years of tapasya before his emergence, ‒ tapasya that in any case he had himself accomplished in the form of the Father. The tale as described in the Shiva Purana is an exact prophecy of the descent of the Supramental Avatars, the victory of the Truth-Consciousness, the conquest of Death and the realisation of Immortality. The square is the symbol of the Supermind, but this symbolism can only be understood when we see the square emerging from the circle or when we carry out the process of 'squaring the circle', a problem that has long been held sacred in mystic circles and is known to contain in its solution the key to the highest wisdom. The meaning of squaring the circle is that of the victorious birth of the saviour of the world, who, by his coming as the fourth in the line of supramental avatars, has carried out this geometric problem in his own process of incarnation, in collaboration with the three other members of the Line. The Triangle, which is the symbol of the primary Trinity of 9, 6, and 3, easily emerges out of the circle; but passage to the Square is more complex, for indeed it signifies the conquest of the physical plane and the rooting of the truth-consciousness in matter, ‒ or better said, its unfolding in the core of matter. The Son, who is the Father reborn, accomplishes this task-by his very birth. In this manner he vanquishes the powers of darkness that have possession of the Earth plane and the total descent brings about the transformation of all four planes: spiritual, mental, vital, and physical. The numbers 9, 6, and 3 total 18, and his number is 19, or 1. As the number One, after 9, 6, 3, he is the firstborn of the gnostic race. Sri Aurobindo revealed this secret in his 76th 'Aphorism':
‘76 – Europe prides herself on her practical and scientific organisation and efficiency. I am waiting till her organisation is perfect; then a child shall destroy her.’
“The child he speaks of in this 76th verse is the Fourth whose number is 19 (1). 76 is the 4th multiple of 19. In the measurements of the chamber-core [of the Mother’s Temple vision] this very secret is written…. [T]he story of Shiva's Son, Guha, the hidden one, is told; the birth that Sri Aurobindo himself prophesied in his 76th Aphorism.… [On] the basis of the Mathematics of Unity, 76 is 4.” – Thea, The New Way, Vols. 1&2, pp. 143-44 [Bold emphasis added]
“The full revelation came in 1976…. The return of the Son was also prophesied by John in his Revelation.” – Ibid., p. 207
“[The Solar Line carrying out the Supramental Descent) starts from 9 … passes on to 6 and then down to 3; until finally through the 3, the last of the tri-power original cell, the 9 returns as the One, and this is Kalki or Shiva's son Kartikeya, who is 'Shiva himself'.” – Ibid., p. 123 [Bold emphasis added]
In 2011, Thea wrote the following statement regarding her own yoga and the “return of the Son”:
“Thea's cosmology has proven empirically that Sri Aurobindo is Vishnu's 9th Avatar according to rigorous Vedic prescriptions, she has proven that Sri Aurobindo's most conclusive victory was the process of his death and return and what exactly that means in the Supramental Manifestation and why it was necessary, she has given the [9/6/3-0/1] Formula he cemented in his own symbol.” – Thea, 14 July 2011 [From a private email correspondence; numbers in brackets added]
The formula or numerical sequence of 9/6/3-0/1 is the foundation of Thea’s cosmology, expressing the Triadic descent of the Transcendent (9), the Cosmic (6) and the Individual (3) Divine and the birth of the Triadic One – the triple godhead Agni as celebrated in the Vedas. In her own words:
"[A]fter the 9/6/3 descent (vertical), similar to the descending Ray of the Mother’s chamber, there is a shift, a change in direction. The Zero (seed-essence of the compacted 9/6/3) gives forth the One. This One is the first point of space (horizontal), i.e., there are three dimensions of Time whose fourth dimension is the point of space, the One. The contraction/compaction of the vertical on the other side as it were, produces the singularity of the event horizon, and space is born. The direction then becomes expansion, the horizontal ‘waters’ of the Symbol.
"In the language of the supramental yoga, this 9/6/3 is compressed into the Golden Seed. The 3 then gives birth to the One who is the result of that compaction, the contents thus of the Zero. For which reason we can confirm that this universe is born of FULLNESS. Emptiness, the Void, is the great illusion – the undivine Maya. She is finally unmasked when the Solar Line takes birth in time and thus imprints the formula of the Supermind in the evolutionary matrix of our world." – Thea, Chronicles of the Inner Chamber, Part X - The Core and the World - 1
These numbers, which are inseparable from the geometry of the 0/9 number system our civilization inherited from Vedic India, are central to Thea's writings and in her analyses of world affairs as well as in her writings and analyses of the circumstances of her own yoga. In Part One I discussed how these numbers present themselves (in ascending order) in the name Covid-19, and it is worth repeating here. The numerical value of COR (the Latin base and root-syllable of Corona) is 3-6-9; and the prefix (abbreviation) “CO” by itself is 3-6, together adding up to 9. The number 19 of Covid-19, is essentially a TIME-stamp, marking the year that the disease first emerged in humans (2019). The numerical value of the abbreviation SARS is 191919,8 and Covid-19 has emerged 99-101 years after the 1918-1919-1920 Spanish Flu pandemic.

Thea discovered Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth in 1976, and she recognized the number 76 as the fourth multiple of 19, in relation to Sri Aurobindo’s 76th Aphorism. She did not mention, as far as I know, that the number 19 is also thrice-contained in her own birth year of 1938 (19 + 38 = 57 = 19 + 19 + 19). Oddly enough, “Immortality Day” of this pivotal year of 2020 will mark the 57th anniversary of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth (1963 + 19 + 19 + 19 = 2020). The pivotal year of 2001, which bore forward the events of 9/11, marked the 38th anniversary of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth (1963 + 19 + 19 = 2001; 2001 + 19 = 2020).9 [See Thea’s September Trilogy ‒ Plus One for her analysis of the events of 9/11.]

Seven years after 9/11, the 26/11 (26 November 2008) Mumbai attacks on “Immortality Day”/India’s “Constitution Day” marked the 45th anniversary of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth. Following 26/11, Thea expressed some of her thoughts (to her students) on the subject of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth, and the resistance she faced in presenting this story of the Avatar’s [Vishnu’s] descent.10
“It is purely 'mathematical', a Formula that needs to be worked into the evolutionary process. There is nothing sentimental about it, much less any glory to me for giving him birth, as most believe. …[O]f course the process could not have been successfully carried out had things been arranged more impersonally, where I could write about someone else's child. It could not happen that way precisely because, as I have written, it had to be one of the Line to be able to record the event AS A PART OF THE FORMULA, and, more precisely, through the Third. That also means one who was doing the same Yoga, the same process, and could record it faithfully. That is the most important part. Sri Aurobindo could not have fulfilled his mission had this return as the Fourth in the Line not taken place. It disturbs me that we are not getting that across to a wider audience. What gets out there can be simply brushed off as a case of megalomania.”
“[N]ot one line of The New Way, and everything I have written since then … could have been done without the unveiling of the Fourth Power. That it happens to be my son is not my choice, but I cannot deny that the process would have been impossible had it been otherwise. – Thea, December 2008 [These two excerpts are from two different emails, exact dates unknown.]
Circa the December Solstice of 2004, Thea wrote, “the details of the coming” (i.e. of Sri Aurobindo’s return) are “written” in the Mother’s original Temple measurements, adding, “There are vested interests to contend with, those who must at all costs keep this great Secret forever sealed.” (Chronicles of the Inner Chamber, Ch. 10,  “The Core and the World – 1”)

Regardless of the resistance, incredulity or simply lack of comprehension that Thea faced from the “old guard” of Sri Aurobindo’s (and the Mother’s) students, she continued to write about Sri Aurobindo’s victory, presenting the supramental, cosmological, numerical, astrological and mythological keys by which his victory can be seen or appreciated by any who have some capacity to follow along. From my point of view, given Sri Aurobindo’s stated avataric mission,11 it makes perfect sense that he would reincarnate via a mother who subsequently (some six years later) began bearing forth volumes of detailed gnosis regarding the realization of the “cosmic forces” at play in the Supramental Descent and in the establishment of the Supramental Consciousness on Earth. As I wrote in Part Three, Thea’s studies of astrology, philosophy, cosmology and mysticism began in 1965 (at the age of 27). In other words, shortly after Sri Aurobindo’s re-birth, and in conjunction with the beginning of her 4th ennead (spanning ages 27-36), Thea was compelled to begin learning exactly what she needed to learn in order to recognize who he was and to SEE and UNDERSTAND what he had accomplished.12

Many students of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother simply do not want to consider or admit that there was still much more to be added and accomplished after their respective departures. A crust quickly formed around the Sri Aurobindo Ashram after the Mother’s passing, and that was that. It made no difference whatsoever that the Mother herself was fully aware and had stated that a further advance in knowledge was needed.
“I feel a very strong need for someone who knows. … That's what I was expecting from Sri Aurobindo. But he himself was searching. Had he continued, he probably would have found it.... But obviously it wasn't possible. For he never said he didn't know. He never said he didn't know. He always told me, 'Each thing in its own time.' But if he knew, he will be able to tell me. So it means it isn't time yet.” – The Mother, The Mother's Agenda, Vol. 3, 13 February 1962
It is apparent in The Mother’s Agenda, that she understood Sri Aurobindo’s passing as a crucial part of his yoga of fully bringing the Divine down and embodying the Divine on Earth. She understood that he was engaged in an occult and mathematically precise process that was being played out in a controlled way in the course of Time. By “occult” I mean “secret” or essentially, that which is hidden from view, that which “can't [yet] be told” or simply that which cannot be seen or understood by the egoic-mental consciousness or by those without direct or lived experience of the truth being conveyed. On August 16, 1935 – the day after his 63rd birthday, Sri Aurobindo wrote:
“Now I have got the hang of the whole hanged thing – like a very Einstein I have got the mathematical formula of the whole affair (unintelligible as in his own case to anybody but myself) and am working it out figure by figure.” – Sri Aurobindo, Letters on Himself and the Ashram, CWSA, Vol. 35, p. 344 [Bold emphasis added]
Sri Aurobindo never explained the above-mentioned formula. The formula, and the yoga that he was engaged in upon his passing, was a secret kept unto himself, until these secrets were occultly and progressively revealed to Thea between the years of 1970 and 1976. Thea in turn, publicly shared what she learned of Sri Aurobindo’s, the Mother’s and her own Supramental Yoga, much of which remains “unintelligible” to most.

It is important for readers to be aware that the Supramental Yoga and Manifestation is an ongoing and progressive story, with many treasures and secrets of the Divine Self yet to be revealed, told and comprehended over many centuries and millennia. It is a progressive yoga and a progressive revelation, unveiling and unfolding of the Truth, divinity, and full potential of Creation in the course of Time. It is a divine mystery playing itself out in supramentally controlled stages, much of which is naturally still hard for most people to understand or see, even with the many keys of gnosis (keys of “seeing in understanding”) that have been born forth since Sri Aurobindo’s passing. Thea discussed Sri Aurobindo’s return in the following terms:
“The Masked Transcendent silently and stealthily removes his covering and mounts his throne, and by his coming‒his very own birth and death and re-birth in our earth-time, he redeems for us the consciousness-matter of our world. He is the Seed, the one eternal Truth from which all truths have sprung. He is the Tree, whose branches are the manifold manifestations of the potentials of the Seed. He is Shiva and His Son, whose birth is the clarion call of Victory. He is the Son of God the Father, not crucified but glorified, the light of whose body is the substance of a new Time. He is the flame in the core, the submerged and hidden essence in the heart of created things, ‒ in the core and in all the outer coverings. He is Agni hidden in the waters and the earth. He is that Son of Force, the leader of the journey, because he shows the warriors of the Divine Mother, simply by his being, that path that is illumined by the rays of the supramental sun. He is Kalki, the master of kala, of Time, who comes to lead on the white Horse, to cleave with his Sword of Truth any darkness that may stand on the way, as he re-poises on its four invincible pillars the kingdom of sanatana dharma, of the Eternal Truth.” – Thea, The New Way, Vols. 1&2, p. 514 [Bold emphasis added]
Most people have no real context by which to understand above statements because humanity has long lost the true sense of what our world’s ancient symbols and lore actually symbolize, especially regarding the Divine Son/World Redeemer. This figure went by many names in the Rig Veda, in India’s post-Vedic sacred texts, and in other ancient mythologies across the world, including Skanda, Kalki, Kartikeya, Kumara, Murugan, Subrahmanya, Quetzalcoatl, Horus, Bacchus, Dionysus, Iacchus, Triptolemous and Bromios. In the Christian tradition of course this Divine Son is Jesus. In St. John’s Revelation, this Son is portrayed as the Lamb of God, who opens the seven seals of the sealed ancient book or scroll (the book of lost Knowledge), whereupon the seven vials or “bowls of gods wrath” are poured out upon humanity.13 Regarding this Son, Sri Aurobindo wrote:
“The Son of the sacrifice is a constant image of the Veda. Here it is the godhead himself, Agni who gives himself as a son to man, a Son who delivers his father. Agni is also the War-Horse and the steed of the journey, the White Horse, the mystic galloping Dadhikravan who carries us through the battle to the goal of our voyaging.” – Sri Aurobindo, The Secret of the Veda, CWSA, Vol. 15, p. 461
Humanity’s darkened Mental consciousness has generated aeon’s worth of distortions and fragmented stories regarding the ancient lore of the Divine Son/One, resulting in various crystallizations of falsehood (as found in much of the world’s religious dogma) which in turn, now serve as formidable barriers to, or at least thick veils cast over the Truth of what the symbol actually symbolizes. As such, Thea’s presentation of how this ancient mythology of the Divine Son has actually played itself out in our present day and age, via Sri Aurobindo’s yoga and his rebirth, has naturally been held suspect or rejected by those with preconceived ideas or conditioning about how the Divine Play should look or how it should unfold on Earth (or preconceived ideas about whether or not there even is a Divine Play unfolding on Earth). In 2009 Thea wrote to her students, myself included, regarding our own “conditioning” (or preconceived notions) regarding Sri Aurobindo's reincarnation:
“It is inevitable as human beings, conditioned as you all are, that you [a]wait a saving grace, a saviour. But this too reveals that you have not understood anything of this work and what the allotted tasks of the four members of the Line might be. Mine is clear and I have been fulfilling my part faithfully. But there is a lingering hope amongst you all that something perhaps ‘spectacular’ will happen WHEN THE FOURTH STARTS HIS WORK. This is to be completely missing the point of his coming.
“[T]he Fourth Power is working in the world. No fanfare, no loud pronouncement. I HAVE DONE THIS! It is the same silent manner that He took rebirth: nothing but the Knowledge to pronounce what he had done, who he was. – Thea (circa) 9 May 2009 [Excerpted from an email to her students, bold emphasis added]
The ancient mythology of the Divine Son is the story about the actual birth or awakening of the Divine Consciousness, out of the womb of the world’s unconsciousness, in the course of Earth’s Evolution. In other words, it is the story of the birth or awakening of the immortal Divine Flame that has been hidden and secretly gestating in ALL of material creation on Earth for billions of years in the natural course of evolution.
“[In] this Age of Aquarius, we are born as a civilisation.… [W]e give birth collectively and individually to the divine Child when perfect centering occurs, just as the Mother’s Vision describes; for this Child embodies that divine Purpose, the deepest secret of our existence on Earth and the recurring theme of so many of our myths. Indeed, it is the innermost secret of the soul itself. In the powerful imagery of the Puranic myth, it is Guha, the divine Son ‘hidden in the cave’ (of the heart). – Thea, Chronicles of the Inner Chamber, Part VII, “The Core and the World 3
The awakening of this “Hidden One” can be thought of as the awakening of our Unity-Consciousness – our consciousness being awakened or being born out of the dark night of our fragmented mental consciousness. This awakening or birth of the long-hidden Divine Truth of our existence naturally catalyzes the dismantling or cleansing the structures based upon humanity’s profound ignorance and fragmentation. Anyone who has learned some Truth in their own life that forces them to let go of all the Falsehood that the Truth has shined light upon, should be able to understand this collective process. The birth of this Divine Child is the seeding of a new evolutionary or developmental stage on Earth, and the beginning of a new world or new civilization based upon the Seed of Unity Consciousness (aka Supramental Consciousness, Truth Consciousness, Divine Consciousness). It should be clear to anyone that has sincerely studied the works of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, that Sri Aurobindo incarnated or descended in order to embody and establish this Divine Birth and with it the Supramental Consciousness on Earth. The Mother (and of course Thea) understood that Sri Aurobindo was successful in this avataric task, however unintelligible or unrecognizable to most for the time being.
“The manifestation of the Supramental upon earth is no more a promise but a living fact, a reality. It is at work here, and one day will come when the most blind, the most unconscious, even the most unwilling shall be obliged to recognise it.” – The Mother, The Mother’s Agenda, Vol. 1, 24 April 1956
In Part Two, I presented some commentary by The Mother and Thea on Sri Aurobindo’s 76th aphorism regarding the destructive force of the Divine Child/Hero which I won’t repeat here but encourage anyone who hasn’t read this commentary to read it. Adding to this theme, in "September Trilogy – Plus One", Thea wrote of the Divine Child as “a power in its infancy that will demolish the structures of the Old World and introduce the new”. She also advised, “We must not lose sight of the fact that the New World is leading the Old World in this perilous passage.”

Thea’s presentation and discussion of Sri Aurobindo’s rebirth can be found in her books The Hidden Manna (written and published in 1976) and in The New Way, Vols. 1&2 – a study in the rise and establishment of a gnostic society (written in 1977 and first published in 198114), The Tenth Day of Victory, Vol. 2 (2014), and Secrets of the Earth – Questions and Answers on the Line of Ten Avatars of Vedic Tradition (2008). She also discusses “the Fourth” in many of her articles, too numerous to mention here.

The last thing I need to mention regarding the Divine Son/One, for reasons that should become clear in the next section, is that Thea associated this Child (“the Fourth”) with the Great Reversal (the 4.5 Point) of the Circle of 9, positioned at 0° Libra – the nadir of the Zodiac.
Based on Thea’s image in Symbols
& the Question of Unity, p. 125
“As students of the New Way know, I have allotted the action of reversal to the 4.5 Orbit in the Gnostic Circle. The reasons for this are obvious, given that it marks the mid-point in the circles of 9 and 12 which constitute this design. I have also connected the One, or the birth of the Son, fourth in the line, to that same location, the 4.5 Orbit. Indeed, the reversal is what allows the immanent Transcendent to cross the Zero threshold, after compression, and enter the material universe as the Point, or the One, fulfilling thereby the formula 9/6/3/0-1. The essence of that Point, or the One, is what I have called the divine Purpose. In other words, this ‘principle’, or first Cause, lies at the heart of everything we can perceive in this material creation, since from that Origin in the One the universe had its being. – Thea, “Vedic Symbol of the Universe – Part 3.3”, The Vishaal Newsletter, Vol. 9.6, February 1995 [All emphasis added]

Some three years after writing The New Way, Vols. 1&2, Thea and her son moved from Pondicherry to Kodaikanal in the 9 year of 1980, the first year of the ennead stretching from 1980-1989. Her son subsequently left India in 1982 after finishing his secondary education. Thea referred to this particular ennead as “The Yoga of the Chamber”, resulting in the birth of  “the unitary cosmos.”15 Circa the midpoint (4.5 Point) of this ennead, in the 3-power year of 1983, Thea had a yogic experience of “centering” and “filling the Void” at the age of 45, which she wrote of as a crucial shift and new alignment, not only in her individual yoga, but as a breakthrough in the Supramental Yoga as well. She discussed this yogic experience in terms of a 9-month process stretching from 17 April 1983 to 17 January 1984, culminating in what she called “the Great Reversal”. Readers should take special note that the 4.5 (Reversal) Point of our current ennead (2016-2025) is 1 July 2020 (which is NOW as I publish this article), following the reversal point of 1984 by 36 (4 x 9) years. In Thea’s cosmology, the 4.5 Point indicates a time when things break apart in a way that demands a release and reversal of old patterns, structures and such, in order for the rise into the higher hemisphere of any particular cycle of the soul’s evolutionary journey.
“[T]he summer of 1984 [a year corresponding to the fourth power/orbit/planet] was the most critical point of the [1980-89 ennead],—what I have called, the Reversal Point. In the number scale 0 to 9, it marks the exact halfway measure, the 4.5. If we were to lay this scale against the solar system of 9 orbit/planets [[as shown in the above image]], this reversal point would fall at the Asteroid Belt. That vast abyss in our system presents us with a visual impact of the reversal point’s effects when experienced in time on this planet, housing, as it does, billions of particles of some shattered cosmic body that once occupied the zone. Disintegration is thus its keyword,—a splintering, a shattering, a dismembering. And as stated, according to India’s new cosmology, this reversal was experienced in the summer of 1984 in the decade of the 1980’s. – Thea, “The Nehrus: A Phenomenon of India’s New Cosmology”, The Vishaal Newsletter, Vol. 0.1, October 1985 [Indira Gandhi’s assassination on 31.10.1984 followed the 4.5 Pt. of 1984. Bold emphasis and text in double brackets added.]
Thea wrote that this experience brought “the end of the Binary Creation” and released “the power of the One” or the “Fourth” on a global scale.16
“I am obliged to discuss the way in which this Power is seen to be acting in the movement, especially as of 1983. For indeed the yogic realisation which occurred then was very precisely the release of the power of the One – or Agni of Vedic tradition, Kartikeya of Puranic tradition, and Kalki of the Hindu Line of Ten Avatars. Though ostensibly different Godheads, these are all manifestations of the 1, or 10, or 19 – all of which are numerically reducible to the power of One. In the terminology of the new cosmology, central to which is the synthesis of the above various expressions of the One, Vedic to Puranic to Epic, the yogic achievement of that year, 1983 (and extending into 1984), was the forging of a centre and the new alignment demanded for that singular Point to come into being. When that was achieved the centre was ‘born’ – i.e., its POWER was released, affecting many levels of consciousness, individual and collective. Thereafter the mass movement could not fail to begin in a controlled process. But not by any human agency, it must be clarified; rather, by the control inherent in Time and the mechanism of the Avataric Line which is itself an instrument of that invincible Mahakala, or the Great Time. The act of centering had rendered Time an ally, a creator and not simply a destroyer. –Thea, “Culture and Cosmos - 3, Part 2.1” [Bold emphasis added]
Thea underscored the importance of this 1983-84 breakthrough in her “September Trilogy ‒ Plus One” discussion of the 2001 terrorist attacks and the collapse of the Twin Towers which she recognized as a symbol of the “Binary Creation”.
“In 1983-4, a new balance came into being as a result of a realignment and centering process involving the cosmic forces of contraction and expansion. To be brief, this set in motion an undermining of the structure of our world, as it had been evolving for thousands of years. Our human species is a binary construct; hence it bears all the limitations attendant on this specific polarity: a central void, because of which the ego can usurp the commanding position of the soul, while the sex centre imposes its atavistic drives in place of a ‘higher purpose’. Examples of the Binary Creation can be found throughout our society, from its loftiest products to its lowliest. Our justice system is an example of that Binary Creation. Our morals, our codes of conduct, and even our wars, are its products. In a word, everything that we know is born of that binary consciousness. Indeed, everything that now seems threatened with collapse. This is so because the Binary Creation has come to an end…. Indeed, the Binary Structure has collapsed just as the Twin Towers indicated.” – Thea, “September Trilogy ‒ Plus One” [Bold emphasis added]
I will once again emphasize that his “Trilogy” needs to be read by all who are interesting in seeing and understanding (“seeing in understanding”) our current Covid-19 pandemic and the plethora of concomitant world crises from a higher perspective, precisely because it is the same story that is playing out. What we see now is just a different (and more widespread and all-encompassing) expression of the same collapse of the old and birth of the new, wherein, as Thea wrote, “[A]ll serve the purposes of the central One. All lines converge on a single Centre. Nothing is excluded, everything is contained in the One Field where harmony and integration are the key words”. (Ibid.)

For readers who are attempting to understand the Covid-19 pandemic in the context of the Supramental Yoga and Cosmology, what must be seen is that the timespan between Thea’s initial centering experience in the 3-power year of 1983 and the 3-power year of 2001, when the Twin Towers fell, is 18 years (i.e. 9 x 2 years). In turn, the timespan between 2001 and the 3-power year of 2019 is also 18 years. Those who study astrology will note that this 18-year timespan is approximately the time it takes for the Lunar Nodes to return to the same degree of the Zodiac (18.6 years). Moreover, 1983 marks the midpoint between 1947 – the year India gained Independence from the British Raj precisely on Sri Aurobindo’s birthday, and 2019 – the year Covid-19 began its rapid path towards pandemic status. 1947 + 36 = 1983; and, in turn, 1983 + 36 = 2019. So there is a certain temporal and cyclical symmetry and relationship between these events, all falling in 3-power years, as did Thea’s birth in 1938. The first documented case of Covid-19 in the world (in Wuhan) was initially back to 17 November 2019 (the 46th anniversary of the Mother’s passing 1973), but doctors in France subsequently found evidence of Covid-19 in the lung scans of a patient from 16 November 2019.17 So this presently puts the first documented cases of Covid-19 at 23°-24° Scorpio, the sign of Death and Regeneration of the Zodiac.

As mentioned above, Thea’s yogic breakthrough of 1983-84 culminated on 17 January 1984. The 36-year anniversary of this culmination was 17 January 2020. Three days later, on 20 January 2020, SARS-CoV-2 was acknowledged as being “human-to-human transmissible”. And three days after that, Wuhan was locked down by the Chinese government, and the global pandemic and pandemic response followed. The first case of the disease in the USA was documented on 21 January 2020, corresponding with the Sun’s entrance into the sign of Aquarius.18 I will discuss this notable timing, and the USA’s particular difficulty in containing the virus, thanks in large part to the questionable leadership and judgement of its 45th President, further on in this series. For now I am just giving some context as to why Thea’s 1983-84 yogic breakthrough 36 years ago, is especially pertinent when considering the supramentally controlled play (and timing) of our present world crisis or rather compounded world crises. Below are more excerpts from Thea’s writings on the significance of this yogic breakthrough.
“1984 was the year that I call, the Great Reversal. It was then, from April 17, 1983 to 17 January 1984 that the new Axis or new alignment came into being; or the incorporation of the Fourth Power and Principle into the work, into the workings of the evolution, into the operations on the world stage.” – Thea, “The Third World War – The New Seeing, the New Power”, The Vishaal Newsletter, 6.1, April 1991 [Bold emphasis added]
“The Yoga of the Chamber simply eliminated death’s COSMIC PURPOSE. It did so by the simple act of instilling at the centre of the embodied consciousness another, a divine Purpose in that ‘void’ created by Death for the human species. And, to be even more specific, the void was simply the unavoidable result of a binary species and society, necessarily resulting in a mid-point void which it orbits. The yogic act of centering thus filled that central space with its divine Purpose and death’s cosmic necessity was dissolved, for it must be understood that the true character of Death is nothingness. Properly speaking, we cannot ascribe to Death a ‘purpose’ because that binding energy is the property of a true centre in a unitary system. Thus the stamp of that nothingness has been reflected in a sense of purposelessness in society and individual and therefore a desire for total annihilation. But now the effects of the act of centering are visible everywhere. The binary world has come to an end. A new world is born.
“The yoga of centering covered a span of 9 months – from 17 April 1983 to 17 January 1984. Volume 3 of The New Way, in which minute details of the centering and its effects upon the individual and the world are described, was written in November of 1983 – that is, in the heart of the process itself. Thus it is a record of the lived experience as it was taking place.…
“With the escape route of death resisted in the intense compression, the ‘void’ was filled with the point, the Centre had come into being. The binary creation received the first shock. Thereafter the new alignment had to be established – that is, lines or directions from that Point to form the new balancing structure of the species, no longer orbiting a void but centred and unitary.” – Thea, “Culture and Cosmos – 2, Part 3.4”, The Vishaal Newsletter, 1991, Special Issue
Thea later described the theme of The New Way, Vol. 3, mentioned above, as “the new alignment required for the Supramental Manifestation”.19 Some of the direct fruits of this 1983-84 yogic breakthrough, according to Thea, were the 1986 establishment of her yogic centre (Skambha/Aeon Centre of Cosmology) in Perumalmalai, Tamil Nadu, as well as the 1989 collapse of the Berlin Wall, and the subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union (1990-1991). From October 1985 through February 1995, Thea chronicled her past and ongoing yogic experiences and discoveries in The Vishaal Newsletter. Thea’s first student, Barbara White, has recently compiled a collection of her early experiences and correspondences with Thea, entitled Experiencing The New Way – a tale of reversal, which provides a glimpse into the actual circumstances that catalyzed Thea’s centering process.

1998, marked the beginning of the next ennead (1998-2007) and the end of the first 72 years (the first degree)20  of the Age of Aquarius (1926-1998), and brought a certain expansion in her work, including the publication of Thea’s first website. Regarding the shifts of 1998, she wrote:
“The process ‘beneath’ ground level rose above from 1998. The foundation stones (Gnosis) had been successfully laid in the trenches Sri Aurobindo and the Mother had earlier dug while they laboured through the mire of the Ages amidst the negation of the old creation. For if this was to be truly a NEW world and not the old simply transforming itself, as the Mother stated, then those trenches as well had to be new, of very special and exact ‘dimensions’. Also HERE, but not here. The foundation blocks (of the New Way) were placed therein between 1971 and 1998. Thereafter, coinciding with the onset of the third millennium, this new edifice (world) began to rise above ground, made especially evident in the first 3-power year after 1998, 2001. Each year that passes offers more solidity to that structure (of the new world). It is INDESTRUCTIBLE simply because it does not occupy the same space as the old, given that its ‘space’ arises from the new Time; therefore, it has to be different.”
From 17 Jan 2003 through 22 December of 2005 Thea wrote The Chronicles of the Inner Chamber with all its attendant updates, chronicling the distortion of the Mother’s Temple and the significance of the Mother’s original measurements. In 2006 Thea founded the Movement for the Restoration of Vedic Wisdom, focused on restoring the true solar measure of the Vedic Year (i.e. of the Zodiac) in India. Thea saw that the mismeasure/distortion of the Mother’s 12-pillared Temple and India’s chronic mismeasure/distortion of the 12-month Vedic Year were inextricably linked, and that correcting this widely celebrated distortion of the Divine Mother and her Divine Maya (Measure) is crucial if India is to fulfill its destiny to be Vishwa Guru – dispeller of darkness and bringer of light to the world. Thus much of her yogic efforts and her writings focused on this effort.21

In 2008 Thea published her Q&A style book, Secrets of the Earth, discussing Sri Aurobindo’s avataric yoga, descent and reincarnation in terms of the mythology and symbolism of Vishnu’s Ten Avatars (Dasavatara). She recognized Sri Aurobindo as Kalki – simultaneously Vishnu’s 9th and 10th Avatars via a process of death and rebirth.
“The next step in the evolution of the species cannot fail to introduce a very different experience of death. The 9th Avatar [Sri Aurobindo] has demonstrated what that next step must be. His own 'death' has opened the door with the right Key. This is done with the allegiance of Time, and not otherwise. Indeed, the breakthrough is precisely a new experience of time whereby at death the flow is not severed, resulting in an unconscious rebirth. The second coming, if we dare use the phrase, implies an unbroken line in time - in this case between the 9th appearance and the 10th. They are thus one and the same because the line is not broken. 'Death' is not unconscious, not a sojourn 'on the other side' disconnected from this plane. This can be achieved when Supermind is fully manifested and established here, the mission of the 9th and his collaborators. Through his conscious 'death' the victory is cemented in the evolutionary matrix when the 9th Avatar himself becomes the 10th in an unbroken line of time between the two. This is in a nutshell the definitive purpose of his coming.” – Thea, Secrets of the Earth, p. 86
“On the basis of the Mother's uniquely Vedic achievement, the birth of the Male Child can be said to be written in the temple as we would expect it to be, in the language of sacred geometry and architecture…. All of this has been ignored by their entourage. They may pay lip service to their Gurus, as devotees are wont to do, but true understanding, real and immaculate Knowledge is absent; hence Sri Aurobindo's avatarhood is denied by all.…
“Did Sri Aurobindo fail in his mission? Of course he did not. Had he not been able to complete the process of 'death' and rebirth as he did, consciously without discontinuity, and with every detail known and recorded as demanded in this Age of Gnosis, then indeed it could be said that he failed. Since this has not been the case, since he completed by his rebirth the Formula he laboured  assiduously to establish on Earth, 9/6/3-0/1, to deny him his place in the Scheme of Avatarhood is to add momentum to the conspiracy which seeks to keep the Line of Vishnu and the Veda submerged in the Matsya Ocean21….  – Ibid., 87-88
“Sri Aurobindo's 'death' experience brought a 'centre' into being, filling what otherwise would have been a void in place of Fullness in that contained 'space': Indeed, the key to the operation is 'a centre that holds'. If Sri Aurobindo had not succeeded in his task, there would be no such centre. And it is the emergence of the One out of the Zero-Womb which occurred by his passing and rebirth that made all the difference. It is that previously nonexistent centre that does indeed 'correct the error'. But, bear in mind, this required re-emergence, re-birth as Kalki, the 10th otherwise the process would have been utterly incomplete. We would have the 9 dangling in space with no issue!” – Ibid., p. 95 [Bold emphasis in original]
In 2010 Thea began a blog entitled, Puranic Cosmology Updated, which included a series by the same name and another series entitled Updating the Vedic Altar, as well as other articles designed to help readers see through their conditioned or preconceived ideas of Vedic and Post-Vedic symbols and mythology (which repeats itself in many mythologies throughout the world) in order to see the deeper and higher sense of what was being conveyed. This process of updating, uplifting or restoring the lost sense of these symbols and myths was, and continues to be, a natural and necessary result of the dawning of the Truth-Consciousness or Light of the Soul in our Age of Aquarius, ushered in by the Supramental Avatars. It is necessary at this point in our evolution to see through and dissolve the collective veils (or thick walls in many cases) that stand in the way of seeing, experiencing, and understanding what our ancient symbols actually symbolize.
“[T]he new order is simply an UPDATING of the old. The latter is not discarded but simply brought forward almost intact. Herein lies the extraordinary quality of the ancient way: it can be proven that the Order I am discussing bore an inherent mechanism of renewal, exactly what is lacking in religions and contemporary ideologies.…
“[T]here is a stable constant as upholder of both the old and the new. In the human being we know that constant as the Soul.… That unchanging quotient is the eternal support of the system, on which basis a civilisation can enjoy a blissful state of eternal Being within the Becoming.…
“[B]ecause Myth, the language of the Soul, forms the core of the cosmology, not only is the system everlasting, it is also renewable. Herein lies its value as a constant.…
“Myth is the language of the soul across the globe and across the ages.
“[T]he number 3 will occupy an important place in this discussion, and all variations thereupon. To be observed is that the Trinity or the triune balance is also a universal component of all traditions, ancient and new. Indeed, in the updated cosmology the triune powers are precisely the key required to unlock the door beyond which Puranic Cosmology stands and awaits renewal.” – Thea, Puranic Cosmology Updated, Parts 1 & 2
In India's Rebirth, Sri Aurobindo wrote a remarkable statement that is widely ignored in the field of Vedic Studies. He wrote: “[F]or some two thousand years at least no Indian has really understood the Vedas.' In “Updating the Vedic Altar – Part 8”, Thea mentioned this quote adding:
“It would take the descent of Vishnu’s 9th Avatar and his helpers to re-establish the long-lost knowledge that was the hallmark of the ancient tradition.” ( 8 October 13, 2011)
A primary key of this avataric recovery of the long-lost knowledge contained in Vedic and Post-Vedic knowledge alike, has been the recognition that the original context of the ancient lore and symbols of the Vedas is Zodiacal, as discussed at length in Thea’s writings. Without this key, the “sealed” ancient book of the Vedas (and its derivatives) cannot be “opened” or properly read. As the Supramental Avatars understood, the 12-month Vedic journey (Yajna/Yoga) of the Vedic Heroes, the 12-month Solar Year, the 12-month Zodiac and the Soul’s evolutionary journey in Time and Space are all one and the same. This is the singular and unifying context by which much of our world’s ancient symbols and lore can be seen and understood. Without this unifying context, key or lens of seeing, the truth of the Vedic and Post-Vedic symbols and myths simply cannot emerge from underneath their long-standing coverings.
“[Z]odiacal tradition formed the basis of the Vedic higher knowledge that was preserved in temples and myths during the Puranic period for future generations. It is still there, right before our eyes, if we would but remove the veils that keep us blinded to this tradition. This is easier said than done.”  – Thea’s commentary on “THE REFORMED SANATAN CALENDAR compiled and edited by Acharya Darshaney Lokesh”
“The ancient books of knowledge are never confined to a region, a people, a race, a creed, never 'historic' as we understand this term today. They always sing of a universal truth, open to all who can pierce the veils, at any point in time, and discover the wisdom that speaks always of unity, of oneness, because it is a harmony of the one and the many. The zodiac is pre-eminently such a wisdom, and only because its unity has been overlooked have seekers been led away from its high message. The wheel must be seen as a whole and as a truth deeply rooted in the present because its source [the source of the Zodiac] is the soul, the seat of the dharma that is eternal. This is the message of The Magical Carousel….” – Thea, The Magical Carousel – Commentaries, p. 2. [Text in brackets and bold emphasis added]
Throughout the ennead of 2007-2016, Thea continued her yoga of illuminating and uplifting this Zodiacal key of Vedic Gnosis, and likewise continued her efforts towards exposing the gross distortions (i.e. mismeasure) of the 12-month Zodiac and the Mother’s 12 pillared Vedic Temple. She understood that as long as these intertwined distortions of the Divine Mother and her Divine Maya/Measure and the Vedic Year are celebrated as the “real thing”, India will remain crippled in a sense, unable to move forward and fulfill her dharma as a bearer of Gnosis in our world in our Age of Aquarius. In 2014 and 2015, Thea organized exhibitions in Pondicherry and New Delhi, celebrating and displaying the Vedic and Supramental Gnosis contained in the Mother’s Temple vision, as well as other much-ignored wonders of the Supramental Yoga and Cosmology.23

In The New Way, Vols. 1&2, written in 1978, Thea indicated that 2016 was the year she was “likely to withdraw from the Work” (p. 254). She later clarified to her students that this did not necessarily mean she would die that year; but regardless, Thea did pass in 2016 at the age of 78 on 9 October (9.10.2016). The first signs of her illness (cancer) had appeared six years earlier on 10 October 2010. As I discussed in Geometric Keys of Vedic Wisdom (p. 244 & Appendix), and mentioned in the endnotes of Part Three, the time span between the year of Sri Aurobindo’s birth in 1872 and Thea’s in 2016 passing is 144 years, wherein each six year segment is equivalent to one hour of the 24 hour day (6 x 24 = 144), and each of these 24 “hours” correspond to significant events or shifts in the Supramental Yoga.

[Author’s Note: As I was writing Part Four, it became clear that I needed to split it into Parts Four and Five, which is fitting considering that the day I finished writing Part Four (1 July 2020), is the 4.5 Point of our current ennead (2016-2025) which I discuss in Part Five.]

Endnotes:

1 The New Way, Vols. 1 &2, pp. 418-19.
2 In The New Way, Vols. 1&2, Thea compares the Mother’s commissioning of her temple (The Mother’s Temple/Matrimandir) to Demeter’s command to build her temple wherein the secrets of the Eleusinian mysteries were contained.
“Demeter commanded that a temple be built in her honour, called the 'Meteroion', or Temple of the Mother. Therein subsequently the Eleusinian mysteries were held, wherein initiates saw the secret Kore and witnessed the mystic birth of the saviour Son [the three-fold warrior Triptolemus].” (pp. 429-30)
3 It was pointed out to me in 2019 that Thea’s name “Patrizia” originates from the Sanskrit root pātra, meaning “vessel”.
4 365/24 = 15.20…
5 By my calculations if 15.20m is equivalent to 365 days, then the .50 m height of the pedestal is equivalent to 12 years (365years/1520cm x 50 cm = 12 years), so I am not entirely sure how Thea calculated the equivalence as “approximately 13 years”. Regardless, that is how she saw the pedestal, in conjunction with the 365 + 13 days of Saturn’s synodic year.
6 S is the 19th letter of the English alphabet, O is the 24th (2 + 4 = 6) and L is the 12th (1 + 2 = 3).
7 Thea utilized the symbol of the circling of the square in some of her icons, including her icon for the Movement for the Restoration of Vedic Wisdom as found in MRVW’s Manifesto.
8 S = 19, A+R = 1 + 18 = 19; S = 19. The full number value of SARS is thus 57 (19 + 19 + 19).
9 The number 19 stands out in my own life and yoga in that 1950 – the year of Sri Aurobindo’s passing falls 19 years before my birth year 1969, and my father committed suicide 19 years later in 1988, which initiated my spiritual studies that drew me to find Sri Aurobindo’s writings and yoga in 1993 at the age of 24.
10 The word avatar actually means “descent”, and conveys the meaning of the descent of the Divine onto Earth.
11 The following quote regarding Sri Aurobindo’s yogic mission is found in Part Three, but bears repeating here:
“A harmonization of all three [Transcendent, Cosmic and Individual] becomes imperative. I have to bring it down, and from where shall I bring it down –  since it is not yet manifested in the cosmic formula – if not from the unmanifest Transcendence, which I must reach and realise? I have to bring it into the cosmic formula and, if so, I must realise the cosmic Divine and become conscious of the cosmic self and the cosmic forces. But I have to embody it here, – otherwise it is left as an influence only and not a thing fixed in the physical world, and it is through the Divine in the individual alone that this can be done.”  – Sri Aurobindo, Letters on Yoga I, CWSA, Vol. 28, p. 9 [Bold emphasis added]
12  Given the importance of the number 19 (via 1 + 9 + 6 + 3) in this study, it is notable that Thea was 38 in 1976 when her yogic education culminated in her recognition of Sri Aurobindo’s 1963 rebirth/victory. The number 38 is equivalent to 19 + 19, and the year of Thea’s birth was 1938. 1938 + 38 in turn, is equal to 1976. As already discussed, 1976 contains five 19’s in itself: 19 + 76 = 19 + 19 + 19 + 19 + 19; and 1938 contains three 19’s (19 + 38 = 19 + 19 + 19).
13 As it turns out, this ancient prophecy, equivalent to the release of the seven rivers in the Rig Veda, did indeed happen in 2016, in conjunction with Thea’s passing, which I will discuss in Part Five of this series. I briefly discussed these seven bowls in Part Two, and a more thorough discussion is found in Geometric Keys of Vedic Wisdom, Part Two. I have also written about this subject in various articles on this blog, including “Finding the Saraswati River & Restoring the Flow of Her Vedic Wisdom” [10 July 2018].
14 The 1981 publication of The New Way, Vols. 1&2 was hampered, resulting in only the release of some 50 copies. On 24 July 1984, a few weeks after the 4.5 point of the 1980-89 ennead (36 years ago at the time of finishing this Part of the series on 1 July 2020), the remaining books were released. See: “Animals in the Emerging Cosmos – Part 2: ‘The symbol is the thing symbolised'”, The Vishaal Newsletter, Vol. 3 Number 5, December 1988.
15  “The Mother’s Dream” – Part 4 'The Yoga of the Chamber', June 1988, as published in The Vishaal Newsletter, 3.3, August 1988).
16 The Fourth was 19 years old throughout much of Thea’s 1983 centering experience, and Thea associated this 19th year with the “Enhancement of the Fourth”.
“[1983] was indeed the Enhancement of the Fourth.… [O]n 17 April 1983, the formidably powerful experiences began of ‘centering’, of ‘realigning’ and consequent ‘reversal’ which constituted the enhancement of the Fourth Principle. These were the processes which ‘gave birth to the 4th’, to the perfect centre, to that ‘pure seed’, that Hiranyaretas (the Golden Seed) of vedic tradition describing Agni, the Son of Force, the ‘navel of the world’.” – Thea, “Letters from Skambha, 'That Elusive Third and Confounding Fourth!'”, The Vishaal Newsletter, 3.4, October 1988

20  Each degree of the 25,920 year Precession of the Equinoxes is 72 years (360° x 72 years = 25,920 years). The first degree of the Age of Aquarius was actually 29° Aquarius, due to the backward movement of the Precessional cycle. Thea considered the beginning of the Age of Aquarius to be 1926, the year of Sri Aurobindo’s Siddhi Day as well as Immortality Day. Accordingly, from 1998-2070, we are in 28° Aquarius.

22 Matsya, meaning Fish, is Vishnu’s first avatar in his line of Ten. In Puranic tales, the Vedas are submerged and lost in the waters of the Ocean and Vishnu in the form of Matsya initiates the recovery effort.
“[Vishnu said:] All the Vedas carried away by [the Asura] Sankha now lie submerged in the waters. O Devas, I shall bring them all after killing the [Asura] of the Ocean... After saying this, Lord Viṣņu assumed the form of a Saphari fish and plunged into the water from the sky…. After killing [the] Asura Sankha, Viṣņu went to the forest of Badari. There the Lord called together all the sages and commanded thus: O you all, do search for the Vedas scattered within the waters. Bring them quickly from the midst of the waters of the sea. Till then I shall remain at Prayaga accompanied by the groups of Devas.” – Skanda Purana, Unknown translator (1951), Part 6, Karttikamsa-Mahatmya, Chapter 13
As discussed in Geometric Keys of Vedic Wisdom (and as will be discussed a bit in Part Five), the long-lost geometric sense of this FISH emerged from the Ocean in 2016 and promptly revealed itself as a crucial key of recovering/restoring the sense of the Vedas, which has been long-lost in the deep dark “Ocean” of our collective ignorance.

23 As discussed in Geometric Keys of Vedic Wisdom and in this blog, the significance of the sacred number of 144 is multi-fold: It is the square of 12, its number power is 9 (1 + 4 + 4 = 9), it is the number of years of the Maha Kumbha Mela cycle; it is one-third of 432 – the sacred number which appears in the solar radius (in miles), the measure of the Kali Yuga and the given measure of the Rig Veda in syllables. The base of 144 also shows up significantly in the sexagesimal measure of the 360° circle. [See: “The Sacred Measure of 432,000: Addendum”]
