2200-Year-Old Sun Wheels & the Mother's Symbol
These 'Sun Wheel' pendants date from the 2nd century BCE (as found on Wikipedia) show various divisions of the circle which have been discussed in this blog. The most recent post on these divisions is 'Why is the Year Divided into 12 Months?' which discusses the division by six, by four and by twelve. The Sun Wheel third from the left above is reminiscent of the Mother's Symbol which is iconic for all those who study and follow the Supramental and Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. Still many in that field of yoga deny any connection between the four seasons and twelve months of the Vedic or Tropical Year and the Supramental Yoga, despite all evidence or knowledge that has been presented to the contrary.
The Mother's Symbol
In early May I walked a new path in my favorite local garden/park – an old estate that was donated to the town I live in and divided into 20 or so affordably rental garden plots. Of all the times I had been there, it turned out I had never actually gone in through the main entrance/archway. Here's a photo of tile design that greets guests on the entrance walls.
